Alternative Learning Centres - Palm Beach and Southport
For young people who need a more individualised approach to learning, SCISCO Career Pathways has established two Alternative Learning Centres offering the Get Set For Work program, mentoring programs and a selection of interesting workshops.
Get Set For Work
If you are 15 to 17 years old and have left school before completing year 12 then SCISCO’s Get Set For Work program may be ideal for you. Get Set For Work provides you an alternative to school that focuses on getting you ready for employment, further training or maybe even a return to school.
With small class sizes limited to 15 participants and facilitated by experienced and qualified youth specialists (non-teachers) the Alternative Learning Centres aims to provide you a dynamic, respectful and positive atmosphere for you to concentrate on your strengths and gain the skills to be successful in the career you really want.
Success will come in many shapes and forms; you will be given the opportunity to achieve certificates in workplace practices, retail, business administration or construction, further enhanced by practical experience in real work situations.
You also get the opportunity to complete your First Aid Certificate, Responsible Service of Alcohol Certificate and White Card Certification (for the construction industry). All these achievements can be added to your resume to show potential employers how great you are.
SCISCO’s learning philosophy focuses on confidence building, life skills, social skills, career exploration, employment preparation, work experience and volunteer service - All the foundations to prepare you for an exciting future.
We want to provide for you a caring, respectful and dynamic place where you will feel valued, respected, challenged and engaged.
Our Alternative Learning programs are delivered in a ‘single-sex’ environment :-
Girls Program ~ Southport in Semester One, and Palm Beach in Semester Two
