Youth Pathways
Youth Pathways is a voluntary program designed to assist 13-19 year olds, facing multiple barriers, remain at school, explore options and set personal goals through one on one case management. It aims to help young people make a successful transition to complete Year 12 or its equivalent and ultimately to further education, training and active participation in the community.

Structured Workplace Learning (SWL) Program
Structured Workplace Learning gives current secondary students the opportunity to gain workplace experience and provides students with a broad understanding of the world of work to complement their VET in Schools programs. Participation provides young people with a competitive edge in career development through experience in the workplace. SWL develops a range of knowledge, skills and attributes relevant to a wide range of work environments.

Adopt-A-School Program
Adopt-A-School aims to develop effective partnerships between schools and local businesses to benefit schools, industry and business. A typical Adopt-A-School project is set within a particular industry, runs to a project plan, is hands on for participants and creates a greater understanding of potential careers.

Career & Transition Support Program
The program’s primary role is to facilitate delivery of enhanced career & transition support to young people aged 13-19 years which compliment existing programs and services on the Gold Coast. The program provides support and resources to schools, parents, employers and community agencies and aims to assist all young people to make a smooth transition from school to training, employment or further study.

Mentors for our Students Pilot Program
Mentors for our Students Pilot Program (MFOS) is an initiative funded by the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations.
SCISCO is running the program in 7 Gold Coast secondary schools with 30 volunteer mentors who have had years of experience in their industry. The mentoring is in small groups and involves a total of 90 students. The aim of the pilot program is to:
- engage young people with recently retired trades people, professionals and paraprofessionals as mentors to encourage career pathways in areas experiencing skill shortages and to enhance their industry knowledge;
- utilise the knowledge and experience of older Australians to pass on their skills and knowledge to young Australians; and
- improve school retention rates and transitions of young people from school to employment in skills shortage areas.
